Sunshine Rooms

    We have two sunshine rooms but because the children are very young we often work together.  The small art area is shared between both rooms.  This particularly helps the move for very young ones from one room to another, as they are already familiar with both areas and staff.

Sunshine One (0 - 12months)

    This room is designed for children under the age of 12 months, we offer care for up to 6 babies.  This superb and tranquil room provides a warm and safe environment for even the tiniest of babies.

    We work very closely with parents to help provide a positive routine, helping their baby to feel secure and happy within the nursing environment.  To support communication between nursery and home life we keep a daily running record of your child's care needs.  (Please let your child's Keyworker know of anything specific you would like us to observe and record.)

    We offer a wide range of toys and activities specifically aiming activities and stimulation to the younger child.  We enjoy simple group activities as singing and music play.

    The nursery provides a healthy balanced diet with pureed fresh fruit and vegetables for the youngest.  We have a fridge within this room to keep milk cool, individual bottles are labelled on arrival.

    Each child will be allocated their own drawer space where we will keep their belongings (items need to be clearly labelled).  We ask if parents could supply their child's own nappies, baby wipes and cream, this helps to maintain our high standard of hygiene.

    We keep a nursery file of your child's work and progress whilst at nursery.  This is always accessible and parents can take this home at anytime.  We also run regular open evenings to give parents the chance to chat, view your child's work and discuss their development within the nursery.

Sunshine Two (12months to 2years)

    This room is designed for the toddler age group offering space to explore and develop within a very safe environment.  We begin early structural activities and short sessions, children are supported and encouraged to take part.

    We understand that the children are still very young and we try to make the activities and nursery day very calm and yet lots of fun!

    Children have access to a small art area where, under close supervision, they can play with sand and water and explore and develop feelings for different textures.  This helps refine the fine motor skills of the young child.

    The sunshine rooms have a separate outside area where they can play and explore safely.  This outside equipment has been carefully chosen to help promote the younger child's growing and changing physical needs.

    A healthy balanced diet is offered with regular snacks and drinks.  We continue to keep a daily record of your child's day.

    A named bag with a change of clothes is required alongside any changing equipment, your child will be allocated a peg with a picture next to it.  This encourages recognition and learning.
